On Thursday, February 17th, I conducted a client interview and demonstration of Notice Volunteer to a group of volunteer coordinators at the Troy Music Hall. The purpose of this meeting was to introduce Notice Volunteer to the Troy Music Hall staff and learn more about what about our platform excites them and how we can improve our features. The group appreciated our easy-to-use interface and the app's simplicity and efficiency. They believe Notice Volunteer fills a great need in the NY Capital region and beyond, and has the power to help nonprofit organizations build a steady volunteer pipeline. For future improvement, we discussed ways to check whether volunteer meet an opportunity's prerequisites. Many organizations require prerequisite training or orientation for their volunteer depending on the task. We explored how Notice Volunteer can make it easier for the organization to track who has completed those prerequisites and offer them more 'members only' type tasks. One idea was having invite-only community groups for a nonprofit organization to post events for a select roster of volunteers. Another idea was to indicate prerequisite completion on an event's main volunteer roster. If the prerequisite is incomplete, the volunteer can sign up for the prerequisite event or directly contact the organization. Overall, the meeting was productive and insightful. The Troy Music Hall will be joining us as a Notice Volunteer Pilot Partner once the app is available for Android devices.
